JUNE 14 2009
Mike BettsOn Sunday, June 14th 2009 Mike Betts was our guest speaker. Mike is the lead elder at Lowestoft Community Church in the east of England. LCC is part of the New Frontiers family of churches. Mike also gives leadership to a team of leaders that are actively involved in laying down practical New Testament vision and values for local churches that are being caught up in the apostolic dream in the New Frontiers family is passionate about.

The leadership team at Harvest Christian Fellowship has just begun developing a relational connection with Mike and his team. We are excited to see the similarities that both Harvest and New Frontiers share in the area of vision, values and mission. The idea of being "a life giving community" connected to "a family on a mission together" is very exciting.

This message that Mike preached at Harvest is a fantastic reminder of what the local church is all about. As we listened to Mike unpack the Apostolic Dream we were all caught up in the dream together. These are exciting days for the church. The best is yet to come. We hope you enjoy this message and that it encourages you to see the full potential that God has deposited within HIS CHURCH.

What makes this message so "life-giving" is the fact that, like all the talks that are presented at Harvest, it is presented on the firm foundation of the doctrine of Grace. Thanks Mike!

We are continuing to build our website into a first class portal to help us facilitate our vision and direction for the forseeable future. One of the strong points of the new site is our ability to have a members only community for the family that call Harvest their home. This part of the site is moving ahead with new features being added on a regular basis. Sermon notes, illustrations, articles and viewable video clips are now being added to our members only Resource Vault. The members section has already got a growing membership contact list that will enable our people to be able to connect with one another. As this section continues to expand our members will be able to view financial reports, sign up for volunteer service, register for upcoming events and classes, view video teaching based on the Sunday teaching by pastor Richard Graham for our upcoming new LIFE @ HARVEST groups that are starting in the fall. It will also be possible for our new members to sign up and participate in our brand new audio & video course entitled "Discover Life at Harvest". If you consider Harvest your spiritual home then I encourage you to register and join our online community today.

On behalf of the leadership team at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church I would like to thank you for visiting our website today. These are very exciting times at Harvest as God has been redefining and realigning our vision for the future. Over the past three years we have become more aware that our vision must emulate the vision of Christ. He came to this world with a very clear vision from his father. He was sent to save lives, restore hope, inspire purpose and give real life to all people who would believe his message. Jesus did his part of the mission and today the church is being challenged to carry on his mission until he returns. The church that Jesus established through the Apostles was truly a life-giving community. Our desire as a local church is to reflect the same values, build on the same principles, believe for the same provision and move in the same power as the church we read about in the New Testament scriptures. While it is true that the times and the culture have changed; the vision and mission of the church remain fixed.

At Harvest we are focused on doing our part to carry on Christ's mission. So, just as Christ came and built a life-giving community our focus is also to be "a life-giving community". As you surf through the pages of this web site you will be reminded time and time again that Christ came to give you life and that the life he gives is a life of fulfilment! The life of true fulfillment is discovered in great measure when we embrace the good news message of his amazing grace. It is truly a life-changing, life-giving message. If you have never received a free gift of God's message of grace then I encourage you to visit this page, discover life in Christ today.

What is a LIFE-GIVING community? PDF Print E-mail

There is no question that the world as we know it is in a crisis. The global financial meltdown has touched millions of lives directly and the rest of the world's population indirectly. The scare of a world Swine Flu pandemic is escalating even as I type this article. We are definitely living in challenging times and one of the greatest tragedies in life is when we have to face our challenges alone. The bumper sticker that states, "Life is hard then you die" is so true for so many people; but it really doesn't have to be that way. While it's true that life can be filled with hardships and that we will all eventually die, God has made provision for us to live a fulfilled life and to live this life in light of eternity not in the shadow of death. God actually initiated a bail-out plan for mankind. It's an economic stimulus plan, it's an anti-virus program, it's a hope filled plan in the
